Trojan-Spy.Win32
A friend’s computer was infected with the spyware commonly known as Trojan-Spy.Win32@mx. According to information I found on the Web there is no such "real" virus as Trojan-Spy.Win32@mx. The infection is called Smitfraud and it causes phony scam virus warnings (and often redirect you to a site selling a bogus anti virus product), trying to sell you junk such as Pest Trap, Virus Burst, Spyware Quake and other non working anti virus apps.
Running Norton and Lavasoft’s Ad-ware 2007 did not rid the computer of the infection. The Web was filled with all sorts of complicated solutions. A simple fix was found at http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php
